New EDI and Stakeholder Membership Categories for MAPSLI
Hello! I am Ashley Campbell (sign name - AC) your current MAPSLI president. I am thrilled to finally announce that the two new membership categories are now open for registration. These categories are Educational Deaf Interpreters (EDI) with APSEA and Stakeholder, in addition to our longstanding Active and Student categories.
Active and Student members must be dual with the national association CASLI (Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters), whereas EDI and Stakeholder will only be members with MAPSLI.
If you are an APSEA EDI or Stakeholder in our community, please consider joining the MAPSLI membership!
To register as an EDI it is pretty straightforward. You must be an employee of APSEA working as an EDI. You can contact MAPSLI if you want to become a member. We will send you an online Google Form to fill out and ask you to submit proof of your employment, for example, a picture of your work ID card. EDI membership costs $50, just like Active members. As an EDI you are entitled to all rights as an Active member. You can vote, make motions, and join the Board for any position!
To register as a Stakeholder you can be Deaf or hearing, but not an interpreter, student, or EDI. You are someone who wants to support MAPSLI and we value your input. This is a pay-what-you-want membership. Please contact us to join, and we will send you an online Google form to fill out. As a Stakeholder member, you can vote and there is a designated Stakeholder position on the Board.
I have just thrown a lot of information at you! But - for more details on Board roles and duties, you can find those online in our Policies & Procedures document. And if you have any questions, please reach out to us!
We look forward to new members joining MAPSLI and growing our community! Your input is one way we can continue to grow and thrive! Thank you so much.
